Is He Your Soul Mate? Look For The Signs!

Not too long ago, I saw a broken down car in front of my house. It brought to mind human nature that often keeps people from their soul mate. You see, I live close to an intersection that was under construction and had been closed temporarily. The construction workers had put up various signs announcing the road closure, starting back at the last big intersection, up to a road barrier with a "Road Closed" sign on it. They even announced the road closure every 500 meters or so with another sign.

The signs weren't very interesting in and of themselves. What was fascinating was to watch how people reacted to them. Many drivers chose to completely ignore the many posted signs and didn't stop and turn around until they were literally inches away from the road block that kept them from going further. I awoke one morning to discover one driver had tried to drive around the road block and had fell into the hole on the other side, damaging his axle.

Why is it that people refuse to read the signs? The road is closed. Nothing will change that. There is no magical power given to any of us that will open the road to us individually. It is closed whether or not we choose to acknowledge it. Yet, many people still ignore the signs, hoping things will be different for them.

Many of us are this way in relationships. There are tell tale signs letting us know what lies on the road ahead. Many times we ignore the signs of a relationship headed for disaster and end up breaking down at the end of the line. All too often, we also ignore signs that indicate the long term vitality of a relationship and turn around prematurely because of minor bumps in the road.

What are some of the relationship signs or truths that we should be looking for? Some of the signs are: 1. Understanding how compatible you are with each other. 2. Knowing if both of you are going in the same direction in life. 3. Identifying the universal values like loyalty and trust that must be present. 4. Recognizing the deal breakers that never work in any relationship.
