Look At These Alternate Means Of Conception Before You Choose Vasectomy Reversal

SizeGenetics

When couples who had chosen vasectomy reversal as a permanent form of contraception consider adding to their brood; one of the first fertility options that they look at is vasectomy reversal. However, despite a high success rate, the fact remains that 40% of vasoepididymostomy and 14% of all vasovasostomy surgeries fail to yield the desired results. However, there is no need o despair because there are several alternatives to vasectomy reversal that can help you to have a child in future. So as discouraging as the statistics may be, wait before you obliterate your last ray of hope to have a child. Some alternative fertility treatments include: Sperm Banking: Sperm banking is one of the most feasible alternatives to surgical vasectomy reversal if a couple changes their mind about adding more children to their family in future. There are numerous services that will help to store your sperms and many vasectomy reversal doctors also offer this option of retrieving the sperms and saving them to be used in case the reversal procedure fails. These sperms can then be used for in vitro fertilization. The cost of sperm banking is quite affordable at just $500 in the beginning followed by an annual charge of $250. In vitro fertilization: This is another alternative to vasectomy reversal; also called Microsurgical epydidimal sperm aspiration; the procedure is not only more affordable priced than vasectomy reversal but also does not have the risks associated with the reversal surgery. It is often considered the second best option to have children after vasectomy reversal. The problem with this procedure is that it is conducted in stages and the charges are for singular stage. The procedure is also quite intrusive and often painful. In case of one failed attempt, subsequent stages may not be possible. The procedure involves several steps such a ultra sound tests, injections and laparoscope and one cycle of the procedure can cost as much as $8000. If you do conceive at the first attempt, you may have to pay less than $10,000 but there are no guaranties and conception is considered as a mark if success so you are certainly not covered in case of a miscarriage and will have to pay for the second stage of the procedure which will involve starting the procedure once again from square one. Therapeutic Donor Insemination: In this method the sperms of a donor are used to fertilize the egg of your partner. The procedure is fairly simple and easy but technically, you will not be the biological father of the child. Once a suitable sperm is chosen, the next step involves artificial insemination; the sperm is placed in the uterus or cervix during ovulation. The success f this procedure is around 25%. Intracytomplasmic Sperm Injection: Also known as ICSI; the procedure is an advanced form of the regular IVF treatment; Here the chosen sperm is injected into the egg and the fertilized embryo is placed in the uterus achieving conception. Vasectomy reversal: The procedure has a very high success rate but failure is always a possibility and it has all the risks that are associated with surgical procedures. If a long time has assed since the original vasectomy procedure, scar tissue may have formed in the area of the surgery and this can make vasectomy reversal quite difficult , drastically reducing the chances of success and it may not always be possible to perform subsequent surgeries if the first attempt is not successful. People who have had the original procedure not more than three years ago stand a better chance of regaining their fertility after the procedure but as more time passes, complications develop and these mar the success rate of the procedure. A vasectomy reversal can cost you to the tune of $10,000 to $15,000 depending on the clinic that you approach, the experience of the surgeon and the state in which the clinic is located. It is important to understand that while certain fertility measures are covered by insurance in some states vasectomy reversal is deemed as an elective procedure and hence your insurance company will not cover it.
