Which Kind of Sex Lube is Right for You?

SizeGenetics

With all of the hundreds of options available to you, choosing the right sex lube can be a bit of an intimidating task. There are sex lubes for anal, oral and vaginal sex. There are warming sex lubes, gel sex lubes and jelly sex lubes. Is one the same as the other? What about the various bases, do those make a difference at all? Does price have an impact on how long it will last? When it comes to sex lube, there are tons of questions that need to be answered. First, we will start off with the different bases. Basically, sex lube is available with a water base, silicon base or an oil base. You are going to want to stay away from any sex lubes with an oil base. This is because the oil poses several problems. For example, the oil in oil based sex lubes has a tendency to break down latex when friction is involved. Since sex is basically friction, if you use the wrong lube you are pretty much asking for the condom to break. This also does a number on latex gloves and contraception with plastic, like cervical caps or diaphragms. Plus, the oil will build up and leave a thin layer that can irritate the skin, opening it up tin an increased risk of bacterial infection. So, that leaves water and silicone based sex lubes. Water based sex lubes are not going to have the adverse effects on latex that their oil based counterparts will. However, the water tends to evaporate and seep into the skin, leaving the sex lube a sticky, dried out mess after extended bedroom play. However, all you need to do to rejuvenate the sex lube is add a little more water to the mix, and it will be as good as it was when you first put it on. Silicone based sex lubes have all of the advantages to that water sex lubes do. They will not cause any problems with condoms, contraceptives or sex toys, and they are just as affordable as water based sex lubes are. The one area that they really shine in is staying power. Unlike sex lubes with a water base that will seep into skin and dry out, silicone based sex lubes will last for a long time. You pretty much have to wash it off to get rid of it!
